How to Say It (Without Tripping)
Before we dive into the dirt, let’s talk about the name. Beltane is usually pronounced BELL-tane, but if you want to get fancy with the Gaelic roots, it’s closer to B’YAL-tinn-uh. Either way, it means "Bright Fire," and it’s the official "Welcome to Summer" party of the pagan world.

The Great Shoe Strike
If you know me, you know that shoes are essentially "optional equipment" in my world. I am a barefoot soul through and through. I only put on shoes when I’m absolutely hard-pressed or if the Florida "winter" (all three days of it) gets too cold to bear.
But this time of year? This is my season of freedom. Beltane is when the world finally catches up to my lifestyle. If you see me with shoes on right now, you can bet your favorite bobbin they are sandals, letting the tootsies fly and breathe. There is something profoundly sophisticated about refusing to be "boxed in"—whether that's by a pair of sneakers or by traditional design rules.
Grounding 101: Dirt is My Aesthetic
Beltane is the vibrant, lush sibling to Samhain. While Samhain is about honoring the shadows, Beltane is about the return of the light. For me, it’s the ultimate time for grounding.
There is nothing—and I mean nothing—that centers me faster than standing barefoot in the grass or sitting with my back against a tree. It’s a literal electrical reset. It strips away the noise of the RV, the hum of the embroidery machine, and the digital chaos of running a business. It brings me back to the Earth, remindng me that we are just as much a part of nature as the hawthorn trees and the leaping hares.
My Beltane To-Do List:
Step 1: Kick off the sandals.
Step 2: Find a patch of clover (and check for fire ants—stay sophisticated, not itchy).
Step 3: Stand still until you feel the Earth’s pulse.
Step 4: Go back inside and channel that raw energy into something beautiful.
Fire, Flowers, and Fresh Stitches
At WhichCraft? Studio, we’re celebrating this burst of vitality with a brand-new collection of digital embroidery designs. We’re keeping it clean, bold, and easy—think thick lines that represent the strength of the Sun and the elegance of the Hawthorn Goddess.
Whether you’re stitching a leaping hare or a crown of flames, these designs are meant to be a meditation. No complicated shading, no stress—just you, your machine, and the creative fire of the season.
So, grab your favorite drink, find a shady spot under a tree, and let’s welcome the heat. Summer is here, and it’s looking spooky, sophisticated, and very, very barefoot.
